This macaroni and cheese is crafted in the traditional Southern style. Only a few simple ingredients contribute to this classic and beloved dish.

Macaroni & cheese is undeniably a classic. It can be prepared in numerous ways, and each method has its merits. However, there is something comforting about the old-fashioned macaroni and cheese, made just as it was in days gone by, before the term “Mac and Cheese” became popular.

° 3 cups of dry pasta
° 4 tablespoons salted butter
° 2 (370 ml / 12 oz) cans of evaporated milk
° 1/3 cup milk, preferred
° 2 large eggs
° 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
° 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
° 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
° 1 teaspoon paprika

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add salt and pasta, cooking until al dente.

Drain and return to the pot.

Add butter and stir until melted. Set aside.

In a large bowl, mix the evaporated milk, milk, eggs, and garlic salt until well combined.

In a separate bowl, combine the cheeses.

Preheat the oven to 376°F. Lightly spray a 9×13 baking dish.

Add a third of the pasta, then a third of the cheese.

Repeat the process with the remaining pasta and cheese mixture.

Pour the milk mixture over it. Sprinkle paprika evenly on top.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 26-31 minutes.
