Golden syrup dumplings delicious

Golden syrup dumplings… delicious… I will definitely make them again, but next time, I will create smaller dumplings.

Ingredients

Syrup:

3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup golden syrup
50g butter
2 cups water

Dumplings (derived from my scone recipe, halved):

1 1/2 cups self-raising flour
1/2 cup lemonade
1/2 cup cream

Directions:

For the syrup: Combine the syrup ingredients and place them in a saucepan on the stove. Bring to a boil.
Carefully pour the syrup into a slow cooker.
Gently combine the dumpling ingredients, then roll the mixture into balls approximately 4cm in diameter and drop them into the syrup.
Cover and cook on high for 60-90 minutes.
Serve with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of cream. 😊

Tips for Perfect Dumplings:

Ensure that the dough is not overworked to maintain a light and fluffy texture.
If the syrup reduces too much during cooking, you can add a bit more water to maintain the desired consistency.
To enhance the flavor, you can add a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a pinch of cinnamon to the syrup.
For an even richer taste, substitute some of the water in the syrup with apple juice or a similar fruit juice.

Serving Suggestions:

These golden syrup dumplings are delightful on their own, but they can be elevated with a few simple additions.
Sprinkle some freshly grated nutmeg or cinnamon on top before serving.
A handful of chopped nuts, such as pecans or walnuts, can add a lovely crunch.
For a touch of sophistication, garnish with a sprig of mint or a few edible flowers.
Enjoy these delectable golden syrup dumplings as a comforting dessert or a special treat for any occasion.
