meatloaf recipe

Here’s a classic meatloaf recipe that’s both easy and delicious:

Ingredients:

1 ½ pounds ground beef (85% lean or 90% lean)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 cup dry breadcrumbs
1 large egg
½ cup milk
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning
¼ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon paprika
For the glaze:
⅓ cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and paprika. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Avoid overmixing.

Form the meatloaf mixture into a loaf shape in the prepared loaf pan.

In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard for the glaze.

Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Bake for 40 minutes.

Then, increase the oven temperature to 400°F (205°C) and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 160°F (71°C).

Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Tips:

You can substitute ground turkey or ground chicken for the ground beef.
For a richer flavor, soak the breadcrumbs in the milk for a few minutes before adding them to the meatloaf mixture.
If you don’t have Dijon mustard, you can use yellow mustard instead.
Leftover meatloaf can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
Enjoy your delicious homemade meatloaf!
